About Chief

Your new best friend is just one click away. Chief is a gentle, sensitive boy who has overcome a lot. Rescued from a challenging environment where many animals lived in poor conditions, Chief was neglected and craved kindness. Thanks to his loving foster mom, he has made remarkable progress and is now learning to trust again. He has come a long way with his house training and is crate-trained, while still working on his leash skills. Chief currently requires a fenced yard as he continues to build confidence outside. He gets along well with other dogs and has lived with cats in the past. Because he is fearful around children, an adult-only home is needed where he can feel safe and secure. Chief might be reserved when meeting new people, but once he warms up he is extremely affectionate, always eager for attention and treats—these are the key to his heart. He will make a loyal, cuddly companion for the right adopter and quickly become a devoted family member. Chief is about five years old, weighs 12 pounds, and is a Rat Terrier mix. He is fully vetted: neutered, microchipped, heartworm negative, and up-to-date on vaccines and deworming. Ready to help Chief write his happily ever after? Lets make it official, apply to adopt!

Questions about Chief

  • What type of living environment is this breed usually best suited for?

Rat Terrier mixes are adaptable but do best in homes where they are part of the family. They thrive in both houses with a yard and apartments, as long as they receive regular exercise and attention.

  • How much outdoor space does this breed typically need?

While Rat Terrier mixes appreciate a fenced yard to play and explore, they do not require a large amount of space. Daily walks and playtime are usually enough to keep them happy and healthy.

  • Is this breed typically suitable for homes with children?

Rat Terrier mixes can do well with respectful children, especially if socialized early. However, due to their sensitive nature, they may do better in households with older children or adults.
