About Luna

Ready to meet your new best friend? Apply now! This pretty little lady is Luna, and she’s searching for a gentle, understanding home where she can truly relax. Luna has been a beloved companion, but changes in her owner's life have made it difficult for her to get the focused care she thrives on. Approximately 7 years old and living in the Seattle area after being adopted from an L.A. rescue, Luna is an adventurous soul who adores hiking and exploring new trails. With her favorite people, she's openly affectionate and loving, but Luna tends to be shy with strangers—especially men—and will vocalize her discomfort by barking and guarding her space until she feels secure. Luna can get along with other dogs after slow introductions and enjoys playful romps with the right canine friends. However, she is leash-reactive to unfamiliar dogs and people, so a patient adopter is needed. She has a high prey drive and absolutely cannot live with cats, as she will chase and catch small animals. Luna has shown some resource guarding of toys around toddlers, so she is not suited for homes with young children. Currently, Luna takes vet-prescribed Prozac to help manage her anxiety, and she will benefit most from a calm home with a yard for play, a structured routine, and caretakers who love outdoor adventures. If you're searching for a loyal and protective friend who is happiest by your side in both the backyard and the mountains, Luna may be the perfect match. She'll do best with a dog-savvy person and a quiet, patient environment. Make their next chapter their best one yet.
