About Sherbert
Sherbert, DNA tested as 75% German Shepherd with White Swiss Shepherd as his secondary breed, is about a year and a half old and weighs in at roughly 70 lbs. After spending over a month in a packed California shelter, the sweet and social nature of Sherbert and his siblings saved them, and he now thrives in Seattle foster care. He wins everyone over with his easy-going, goofy energy, big expressive ears, and loyalty. Sherbert slots right in with other dogs and enjoys meeting new people. He does best in a home with a securely fenced yard where he can stretch his legs and burn off energy, but he has a mellow, affectionate side and settles easily after a good romp. Sherbert is crate and house trained, and his playful, adventure-loving mindset comes with an "off switch" when it’s time to relax. He does well with other dogs and has been great with children, though a home with older, dog-savvy kids suits him best. He hasn’t lived with cats, but shows no sign of high prey drive and can be cat tested. His ideal adopters have experience with large breeds and are committed to ongoing training. Sherbert has low grade Megaesophagus, so he thrives on three small, rehydrated meals a day served from an elevated bowl—a routine that lets him lead a happy, normal life with the right ongoing care at home.
