About Hyakume
They are waiting with paws crossed! Apply now! Hyakume is a wise and gentle 10-year-old domestic short hair tabby who has weathered challenging times and come through with a quiet resilience. When arriving at the shelter, she was frail, with a swollen face and an injured eye, but she’s made impressive progress in her recovery—her face has healed and her eye is much improved, along with healthy weight gain. Hyakume’s calm nature sets her apart; she prefers peace and solitude to bustling activity and is most at ease when she can curl up in a quiet corner, observing her surroundings from a well-chosen cubby. As a classic "spirit cat," she always maintains her gentle presence, yet prefers minimal physical contact, showing little interest in being petted or held. What she truly values is a safe, loving home with understanding guardians who respect her contemplative demeanor and let her simply be. Hyakume coexists harmoniously with other cats in the shelter environment but does not actively seek out their company. She is spayed, up to date on vaccinations, and house trained. Her adoption fee helps provide for her medical care, including her spay, vaccinations, worming, monthly flea and heartworm prevention, FIV/FeLV tests, microchip, and ongoing shelter support at the Clay County Humane Society.
