PLEASE READ FULLY BEFORE INQUIRING – WE RESPOND FIRST TO THOSE WHO PUT IN AN ADOPTION APPLICATION BIRDIE IS CURRENTLY FOSTERED BETWEEN CEDAR RAPIDS AND WATERLOO, IOWA. Birdie is an approximately 2–3-year-old Black and Tan Coonhound who was found wandering as a stray in Union, Iowa. Someone in the community was able to gain her trust and reached out to our rescue for help. Shortly after coming into our care, Birdie gave birth to her puppies safely in foster care. Now that her babies are growing up and finding homes of their own, it is finally Birdie’s turn to find the forever family she deserves. Birdie is an incredibly sweet, affectionate girl who loves being with her people. Her foster describes her as one of those dogs who is simply easy to love. She enjoys attention, spending time with her family, going for walks, and riding in the car. She is happy to sit and look out the window while you drive and is always excited when she sees her leash come out. Birdie is completely potty trained and crate trained. She already knows “sit” and “shake” and is currently working on “lay down” and “kennel.” She is smart, eager to please, and catches on quickly when someone takes the time to work with her. Birdie walks well on a leash and continues to make progress with her manners. She can pull a little at the beginning of a walk because she is excited to get going, but she settles in nicely and improves as the walk continues. She will also sit when asked so her leash can be put on. Birdie does wonderfully with children of all ages and has a gentle, loving personality that makes her a joy to have around. Her foster says there is truly very little she would change about her and that whoever gets to adopt Birdie is going to feel like they hit the jackpot. Birdie is spayed, up-to-date on vaccinations, on monthly preventative, dewormed, and microchipped. Her adoption fee is $450.
