Max is a young male Heeler mix looking for his forever home. Currently fostered near Cedar Rapids/Iowa City, Iowa, he came to us after a foster in Oklahoma sought help in finding him a permanent place. Max is about 2 years old and has made impressive strides since entering foster care. Initially a bit reserved when meeting new people, Max's true personality shines through once he feels secure. With just a little time, you'll discover a playful and cheerful companion who thrives on companionship. He loves playing with other dogs, chewing on bones, and carrying around squeaky toys. One of his favorite activities is being brushed; he really enjoys the attention and affection. Max is both potty trained and crate trained, and he walks confidently on a leash. He responds to his name and is currently mastering "sit." He gets along well with other dogs and would appreciate having a canine buddy, while he typically leaves cats undisturbed. Max seeks a family that understands that some dogs take time to reveal their true selves. Once comfortable, he becomes affectionate and eager to join in on family activities.
