About Hugo
Meet Hugo #1110! This charming 10-year-old chiweenie carries the color of butterscotch and is just as sweet-natured. Weighing in at an easily liftable 13 pounds, Hugo is ready for all the hugs and smooches you can give. Hugo prefers the company of a confident dog sibling who can handle a bit of sass from this short king. He’s been learning the ropes from the dogs in his foster home, picking up on their playful habits. He wouldn't mind sharing a home with a cat, though they might not appreciate his enthusiastic Pick-Me attitude! One thing’s for sure, a home stocked with fleece blankets is a must, as Hugo loves nothing more than to burrow into them. He walks well on a leash and adapts to various yard situations, but prefers company when heading outside. While he’s still working on his potty schedule, he can manage with belly bands when needed. He loves the freedom of free-roaming while his foster family is away, though he’s fine with crate time too. Snacks make him jump for joy! Hugo does need a foster-to-adopt family to help him with his heartworm treatment, which will be covered by Minnesota Basset Rescue (MNBR) until he’s healthy enough for adoption. If you’re ready to welcome this loveable companion into your home, apply for Hugo today!
