Meet Grizelda, a gentle soul located in Bullard, TX. Born on July 23, 2023, this Harlequin Great Dane is a sweet, shy girl who is gradually discovering the joys of love and companionship. Although she can be skittish, especially around new faces or sudden movements, Grizelda is making remarkable progress, revealing her charming, goofy personality. Grizelda is intelligent and eager to please. She has a solid recall and listens well, despite not being treat-motivated, which can complicate her training. This clever girl relishes her time outdoors, enjoying playful laps in the yard before settling down. She's housebroken and loves her crate as her safe haven. Grizelda is learning what it means to be an indoor dog, showing curiosity about her surroundings but requiring patience and positive reinforcement. She is currently adapting to interactions and prefers to approach new people on her terms, and she’s been making strides with her foster family's children, particularly enjoying the company of an older child. A home with calm, older kids (8+) would suit her well. She gets along with other female dogs, living harmoniously with a larger companion. However, a cat-free home is ideal, as she has previously shown interest in chasing cats. Grizelda does fine on a leash but has had limited experience walking, and she tires easily, so her exercise is mostly yard-based for now. A veterinary check-up on her hips and hind legs is due, and she has yet to be spayed. While she can feel a bit anxious in the car, she settles down and isn’t bothered by thunderstorms. Grizelda's perfect home would be patient, nurturing, and ready to let her build confidence at her own pace. Having a yard would be fantastic, as she loves being outside. With continued love and support, Grizelda is ready to blossom into the confident, affectionate companion she was meant to be. Every animal deserves a happy ending. This one starts with you.
