Meet Peeta! Located in Pittsburgh, PA Peeta is a 6-year-old affectionate Great Dane who truly believes his best place in the world is right by your side—and preferably as close as physically possible. His snuggles are world-class, and he happily soaks up all the pets and kisses. This handsome guy is very smart and absolutely a thinker. He’s food-motivated and clever enough to figure things out—yes, even how to open the trash can. Counter-surfing is a skill he’s perfected, so a kitchen chaperone is a must. Peeta adores car rides and loves to play with toys. He’s also a bit of a talker—ask him how his day was and don’t be surprised when he answers you. Peeta is a ladies’ man—he loves all the women he meets. He can take a little more time to warm up to males and benefits from slow introductions. Best in a home without young children. He displays resource guarding behaviours, and would do well in a home with older children, or adults who understand his needs. He would do best in a home without cats or small animals, as he has a high prey drive. Peeta has some resource guarding with food and toys, so an experienced, dog-savvy home willing to continue working with him is important. Peeta is still working on his leash skills. He can be reactive at times but walks very nicely with a Halti. We are happy to announce that Peeta is a graduate of puppy school and knows his basic commands. His intelligence and food motivation has given him a strong foundation to keep building on. Because Peeta loves so deeply, he does have some separation anxiety. He is crate trained and can also be trusted loose in a room. He is also muzzle trained. Peeta is currently in his fourth foster home, where he has been given the time, love, and confidence he needed to truly blossom. Thanks to the dedication of his foster family, Peeta is now ready for his forever home. Above all, Peeta is a deeply loyal companion who bonds strongly with his person.
