About Farrago

Meet Farrago !! This guy is a result of greedy uneducated people breeding ā€œexotic bulliesā€ with zero regard for their health or wellbeing. He’s 100% a hot mess in the body department but he has the most amazing personality. The sweetest boy you’ll ever meet. He has the personality of a toddler mixed with a teddy bear. He ended up at a local shelter and was adopted. Only a few weeks later he was being returned to the shelter when our volunteer was there picking up another dog. His adopter needed him gone immediately due to ā€œlife changesā€, refusing to even wait until the next day so we had time to prepare. With the shelter full we took him in to save his life. It was unexpected but he’s been worth it! Farrago is an approx 5 year old male. Best guess he’s got frenchie, bulldog and American bully mixed in but who knows. He’s a short stocky guy and weighs 41 pounds. He has been neutered, microchipped and is up to date on vaccines. He is Heartworm negative and on monthly preventatives. This guy has been failed a lot in life. Despite it all he’s the friendliest, happiest most loving guy. Farrago has been excellent with all other dogs. He loves meeting people. He thinks everyone is his friend. He thinks he’s a lap dog and will use his cute oversized head to push his way up there to cuddle. He’s more interested in people than dogs but is starting to play more now. He hasn’t met any cats with us but he would probably do fine. He’s a lover. He hasn’t been around kids with us but he’s so sweet we can’t imagine there would be any issues. He is a bulldog type and can be pushy with his love but nothing aggressive. We aren’t sure if he was kept outside or just not taught anything but his training is a work in progress. Despite that he’s still very easy to have in the home. He’s crate trained and does need crating when you’re not home as he will get in to things. Using the crate resolves that. He’s great in car rides he just needs a tether or crate so he’s not trying to sit in your lap. He’s decent on the leash but is a lazy kinda guy and doesn’t like walks much. Farrago is struggling with potty training. It’s one of the reasons we suspect he was living outside. He’s starting to learn but it’s very slow. He needs someone willing to work with him and understand that he’s likely learning this concept after years of not knowing what to do. He currently has a low energy level. He doesn’t care much for being outside and is much more interested in lounging around with you. He plays some and is excited to see you but very low key exercise needs. He may get a bit more spunky as he starts feeling better medically but we don’t expect much increase. Medically his name fits him. He came to us with open wounds, terrible skin, ear infections, swollen paws, etc. He did have bloodwork done and everything was fine. He’s doing well with recovering but will potentially have skin issues long term. So far he is improving with antibiotics and medicated bathed but it’s possible he may need allergy shots or allergy meds if the food change and proper hygienic care aren’t enough. He has a small fatty bump on his back leg. Tested negative for cancer and does not need to be removed. These breeds are expensive so please don’t apply to adopt if you’re not in a financial place to provide for him. He’s been through that for years and suffered a lot of neglect. There is a difference between love and care and he needs both. Due to his short nose, care needs to be taken that he doesn’t overheat. He can absolutely not be left outside alone. These dogs can easily die from heat or over exertion. He also has an oddly shaped back. He gets around with no issues but he needs to be kept at a fit weight. Him getting chubby could cause him issues. Farrago has shown no aggression towards people or other dogs at all. He has been fine sharing treats toys and food with people. He’s fed separately from dogs so we aren’t sure how he would do. He’s very treat motivated. He was very well behaved for the vet. He’s just really been such a sweet boy. We really adore this stocky big headed hodge podge of a dog. He’s a great size and has a great personality. Someone is going to get very lucky bringing this sweet boy into their family. If you’re experienced with bulldog breeds and are financially prepared for potential health issues then this awesome boy might be for you!! Located in Hampton VA.
