Fiona is a sweet little girl who is still discovering just how good life can be. She was one of the 80+ dogs rescued from a heartbreaking hoarding situation, but despite everything she’s been through, she has the gentlest, most loving little spirit. She can be a bit shy at first, but give her a little time and she warms right up. She does great with other dogs and kids, although she prefers gentle affection over being picked up too much—when she’s had enough, she’ll simply hunker down and find herself a safe spot. Fiona has the cutest bursts of playful energy, but she’s just as happy curled up on a cozy cushion in the shade or snuggled in your lap for a quiet evening. She’s already doing wonderfully with her manners too! She sits for food and treats, runs right into her kennel at bedtime, and does all of her business outside. She’s still learning a few things—like keeping all four paws on the ground —and hasn’t quite figured out what toys are for yet. But after such a difficult beginning, Fiona is learning more every day that she’s safe, loved, and allowed to just be a dog. Now she just needs a family to show her that the good life is here to stay. Female• 1 year old• Terrier Mix• 19 lbs ADOPTING A DOG Our dogs have been spayed or neutered, vaccinated, dewormed, microchipped and tested for heartworms (if 7 months or older). If you have a dog or children we ask that you bring them with you to meet our dogs to make sure it is a good match. We are open for meet and greet adoptions at our shelter on weekends. No appointment is necessary for weekend adoptions. Our weekend hours vary and we also have satellite adoption events every weekend.
