He’s potty trained, does great in his kennel for a few hours, and walks nicely on a leash as he cautiously starts exploring this big new world. When he’s not out discovering new things, Boyfriend is perfectly happy snuggled up on the couch next to his human. He seems to do well around other dogs and kitties, and he’s still figuring out this whole “toy” thing—but we have a feeling he’ll get the hang of it. Male• 1.5 years old• Terrier Mix• 16.4 lbs BOYFRIEND is one of the 80+ dogs and puppies who we recently rescued from a terrible hoarding situation. The poor dogs were living in a filthy, crowded house, having to fend for their food. Most of them have scars and wounds. It was truly a heartbreaking situation. Yet, every single one of these dogs and puppies are sweet natured— just wanting to be loved. They are amazingly resilient. They’ve all been bathed, cuddled, and loved on by volunteers and staff. Some are very timid, yet they are comforted by being held and like the attention and love. Thankfully, many have found foster homes with us or with our rescue group partners. But we still have about 30 dogs in our shelter who are ready to be adopted or to go to a foster home. ADOPTING A DOG Our dogs have been spayed or neutered, vaccinated, dewormed, microchipped and tested for heartworms (if 7 months or older). If you have a dog or children we ask that you bring them with you to meet our dogs to make sure it is a good match. We are open for meet and greet adoptions at our shelter on weekends. No appointment is necessary for weekend adoptions. Our weekend hours vary and we also have satellite adoption events every weekend.
