Nino's journey began when Animal Saints Rescue Society stepped in to help with an owner surrender involving several Imperial Shih Tzu. His previous owner faced serious medical challenges, leaving these sweet pups in need of a safe haven. Nino recently arrived at the sanctuary, where he's receiving essential medical care and is ready to find a loving home. At just three years young and weighing around 8.5-9 pounds, Nino is a rare Imperial Shih Tzu with beautiful brindle markings and long hair. His grooming needs will require a commitment, as his hair needs professional care every 4-6 weeks. Nino has shown us he loves hugs and enjoys being carried around. His charming personality shines through, especially with his adorable tongue peeking out. Nino thrives on companionship and does well with friendly canine housemates, especially those who are gentle and welcoming. His ideal home would also consider adopting his best friend Bueller, as the two share a close bond. Nino is learning foundational skills and will need continued training with a professional to help build his confidence. Please be aware that Nino takes some time to warm up to new people due to a shy past, but once he feels safe, he’s quick to form connections. His new family should ensure he isn't alone for too long each day, ideally having another dog around for companionship. With patience and love, Nino will flourish in a warm, nurturing environment. Every animal deserves a happy ending. This one starts with you.
