About Stanley

Stanley came from a tough start—abandoned and left at an overcrowded shelter, neglected, and needing urgent eye surgery. Animal Saints Rescue Society pulled him out just in time, and since then, he’s shown a knack for healing and a real talent for being the softest soul around. Stanley is a 6–8-year-old Shih Tzu with long, handsome grey and white hair. He’s now neutered, up to date on vaccinations, and microchipped. His left eye was removed due to untreated infection, but he gets around with ease and isn't phased—just a bit startled if you approach quietly from his left side. He’s house trained and prefers going on potty pads, and he’s happy napping on any available sofa. Stanley isn’t big on the outdoors yet, though recently he’s gotten more curious about the outside world. He’s at his best indoors with gentle company—a quiet home with adults or respectful older kids suits him perfectly. He does well with other polite dogs, but doesn’t require a canine sibling. What he values most is a peaceful environment where he can stay close to his person. Long grooming sessions are a fact of life for Stanley; his hair requires professional care every 4–6 weeks. He’s easygoing for baths and trims, especially if treats are involved. He adapts to new routines, but adopters must sign on for positive reinforcement training with a professional—it’s a requirement and a bonding opportunity. Stanley can manage a few hours on his own, but most of all he wants companionship throughout the day. No crates for this guy—he’s happiest sharing the living room and bedroom. With his Aquarius sun sign, expect an independent streak and a gentle heart. Click apply to start the adoption process.
