Meet Jay! This happy, playful little guy is searching for a loving home. If you're looking for a spirited shadow to accompany you around, Jay is your match! He's a 4-year-old male poodle mix, weighing in at 7.7 pounds. Though he's close to his full size, he'd benefit from adding a pound or so to be at a healthier weight. Jay is neutered, up to date on vaccines, and microchipped. Luckily, he's heartworm negative. He was surrendered due to a reported incident where he allegedly bit a child's hand during playtime. However, he's shown no aggression since arriving at the shelter and has been fostered with children, demonstrating a playful and affectionate nature. Jay is energetic and loves to run, play with toys, and ensure squeakers are thoroughly removed from his plush toys. After a fun play session, he has a cuddly side that emerges once he’s tired. He adapts easily to new faces and settings, embodying a joyful spirit. Jay does well with other dogs and enjoys their companionship. While he has not been around cats, he's friendly with everyone he meets, including kids. Given the prior incident, older children might be a safer fit for him. He’s making good strides with training, is crate trained, and behaves well on car rides. While he’s improving on his leash manners, he still needs some guidance. He has been potty training well, but watch for frequent bathroom breaks to avoid accidents. With a medium energy level, Jay is not a lap dog all the time—he’s spunky and loves adventure! He does have moments when he seeks out cuddles, especially when he’s tired. This playful boy loves toys, but be cautious around human food as he gets quite animated around it! Jay deserves an active family that will cherish him as much as he will them. Keep in mind he requires regular grooming, which involves time and expenses every six weeks.
