His journey has been tough; originally meant as a hunting dog, he was deemed unsuitable due to his fear of gunfire and spent much of the last two years living in a hunting box, with minimal human interaction. This unsettling past has made Blue timid and nervous around people, especially when they approach him. His previous owner couldn’t even pet him because he was too afraid. The good news is that since entering foster care, we're observing hopeful signs. Blue shows a desire for affection, especially when his foster sits down—he craves connection and would thrive with the right support. Currently, Blue is not leash trained or housetrained, which is understandable given his limited experiences. But with patience and consistent training, he can learn these essential skills. He is neutered, heartworm negative, and weighs around 16.8 pounds. Before heading to Seattle, he will be microchipped, vaccinated, and started on monthly flea and tick prevention. Blue shares a special bond with his friend Belle, who has faced a similar past. They will need to be adopted together, as they are inseparable and find comfort in each other’s company. A securely fenced yard is required due to Blue's nervousness, although he has not attempted to escape when briefly outside before. Ideal for a beagle-savvy family, Blue would do best in a quieter home with older children, ideally ages 12 and up, who can respect his space.
