About Axel
Meet Axel, a four-year-old male Doberman Pinscher and a true gentle giant. With his fawn-colored coat and natural ears, he has the kind of demeanor that puts everyone at ease. Axel thrives on companionship and is known for his sweet and easygoing nature, always seeking to please his humans. He’s house-trained and well-behaved, requiring no crate. While he pulls on the leash, he responds better with a harness and would greatly benefit from additional training. Axel is an observant dog, often alerted by the sights and sounds of squirrels and other wildlife. Although he barks at things that catch his attention, he greets guests with a calm curiosity. At around 92 pounds, Axel is a big boy with good food manners, not prone to counter surfing. Though we haven’t observed him around children, we believe his gentle nature would shine through, making him a great companion. That said, potential adopters should be familiar with Dobermans because of his size and enthusiasm. Having previously shared a home with a smaller female dog, he has shown he can get along well with other dogs. After arriving at DAR&E, we discovered Axel's thyroid condition, which causes weight gain but is easily managed with a daily supplement. Axel is a loving dog who would thrive in a home filled with treats, a cozy dog bed, and plenty of love. Currently, he’s being fostered in Silver Spring, MD. DAR&E adopts to MD, VA, DC, DE, eastern parts of WV, and southern parts of PA. Make sure to reach out if you're in these areas!
