About Axel

Meet Axel, a four-year-old male Doberman Pinscher in Arlington, VA. He has a fawn coat and natural ears. This gentle giant is sweet and easygoing, always eager to please his humans. Axel knows basic commands like sit, come, and down, and has adjusted well to routine changes. He’s generally well-behaved indoors, but he does pull on the leash, so training would help him walk better, preferably in a harness. Axel has an inquisitive nature, often getting excited by wildlife like squirrels and rabbits, alerting you before he begins to pull towards them. Although Axel has yet to interact with children, his gentle disposition suggests he would be kind; however, his size could pose a challenge. For this reason, he’d thrive in a home where everyone understands and appreciates Dobermans. Having previously lived with a smaller female dog, he may also do well with another female dog in the house. Axel has a history of being a bit overweight, attributed to an underactive thyroid, a common issue for Dobermans, which is manageable with an affordable daily supplement. He enjoys his food and has good manners around it. This loving companion would flourish in a home filled with treats, a cozy dog bed, and humans to lean on. He is currently being fostered in Maryland. DAR&E adopts to MD, VA, DC, DE, and parts of WV and PA. Please consult other Doberman rescues if your area isn’t listed.
