Zena
AvailableZena is a black and tan Doberman Pinscher located in Arlington, VA, known for her sweet temperament and medium size. She has a short coat and is spayed, vaccinated, and house-trained. Zena has special needs due to Wobbler's Disease, which requires her to maintain a low-impact lifestyle. She brings her loving personality and relaxed attitude to any home ready for her care.
About Zena
Zena is a happy, sweet, 6-and-a-half-year-old female Doberman with glossy black and tan fur, naturally floppy ears, and a docked tail. Weighing in at 60 pounds, she’s a small Doberman girl who quickly settled into her foster home, soaking up attention and sticking close like a true velcro dog. Zena is all about that laid-back, couch-potato life—she’ll curl up beside you for TV time and happily sleep on her bed next to yours at night. She’s well-behaved with the run of the house, never destructive, and doesn’t need to be crated but will use one if needed. When home alone, Zena lounges around quietly and may do a little whining at first but calms down fast. She’s happiest when her people come back home. Zena knows “sit” and “down,” is house-trained, patient at mealtimes, and gentle in the car. Zena has Wobbler's Disease, giving her a distinctive walk and requiring a low-impact lifestyle—think minimal stairs, short walks, and a harness over a collar. She enjoys gentle sniffing adventures outside, tracking scents around the yard, and will do best with another older or calm dog, if any, since she shouldn’t roughhouse. She’s fostered in Virginia and looking for a home within the listed adoption areas. Every animal deserves a happy ending. This one starts with you.

Questions about Zena
What type of living environment is this breed usually best suited for?
Doberman Pinschers like Zena are generally suited for homes where they can feel part of the family, thrive on companionship, and have a quiet, calm environment, especially in Zena's case with her special needs.
How much outdoor space does this breed typically need?
Typically, Dobermans benefit from a fenced yard to explore, but Zena's condition calls for short, supervised time outside and gentle activities rather than high-energy play.
Is this breed typically suitable for homes with children?
Doberman Pinschers often do well with respectful children, but with Zena’s need for a low-impact lifestyle, she’d be best in a home where children understand her mobility limitations.
