About Arthur
Arthur is a 5-year-old, 78-pound neutered Staffordshire Terrier and Retriever mix living in a foster home in Houston, Texas and ready to come to Martinez, CA. He’s a lively and affectionate dog who jumps into every day with energy, whether that means playtime in the yard or a long walk with his people. Arthur gets along well with most dogs—he loves hanging out with playmates of different sizes, reading canine body language well, and knowing when to give others space. He’s met cats and even pot-bellied pigs, showing curiosity but never aggression, and he’s always supervised around smaller animals. He does well around children and doesn’t jump on people, but because of his size and high spirits, he could accidentally knock over a small child during play. Arthur thrives with a family who understands and channels his enthusiasm. Fully house and crate trained, Arthur can settle calmly in his crate for longer stretches and rides beautifully in the car—just say “car ride” and you’ll see his excitement. He enjoys toys and attention and will soak up affection all day long. Possessiveness can pop up around toys and food with other animals, so he does best with separate feeding and a watchful eye on favorite items, though he has no issues with people. Arthur is still polishing his leash manners and basic commands, and continued training will help him become an even better companion. With structure, regular exercise, and family time, he’ll be the perfect adventure buddy and loyal friend—just as ready to hit the trail as to curl up beside you at home. Ready to fall in love?
