About Bonnie

Meet Bonnie! Meet me and some of my other foster friends this Saturday, May 30 from 11am – 2pm at Meadow Brook Amphitheatre! We would love to help you find your newest family member. To help make the adoption process smoother, please complete an adoption application online ahead of time to become pre-approved. All members of the household — including any current dogs — must be present at the event so we can complete introductions and help verify compatibility. Please note that we do not hold dogs, and many potential adopters will be attending the event. We hope to see you there! Born on 7/17/25 and currently weighing approximately 45 pounds, Bonnie is a beautiful young German Shepherd with a heart full of love and enough energy to keep an active family smiling every day. This sweet girl was surrendered to rescue as an 8-week-old puppy and was later adopted by someone who had previously owned a German Shepherd. Unfortunately, they quickly realized that while they loved Bonnie, their current lifestyle was not the right match for an active working-breed dog. Bonnie deserves a family that can embrace everything that makes a young German Shepherd so special. Bonnie is affectionate, social, and loves being part of the family. She thrives on interaction, activity, and having a job to do. Like many young shepherds, she is intelligent, energetic, and always ready for the next adventure. She is seeking an equally active family that understands the commitment required to keep both her mind and body engaged. She does well with other active dogs that can keep up with her playful puppy energy and enthusiasm. However, she would not be a good fit for senior dogs, as her youthful energy and desire to play may be overwhelming or annoying. Bonnie may also be too much for smaller breed dogs due to her size, strength, and active play style. Because of her breed characteristics and training needs, Bonnie is not recommended for first-time dog owners. She will thrive with a family that understands working breeds and is committed to providing structure, consistency, exercise, and continued training. She would do best with older, dog-savvy children who can respectfully interact with a larger, energetic young dog. A securely fenced yard is important for Bonnie. She needs an appropriate outlet for her energy and enjoys having room to run and play safely. She is not a good fit for a tether or invisible fence system. One of Bonnie's favorite activities is playing fetch. She enthusiastically chases the ball and loves the game, although she is still perfecting the important details of bringing it back and actually giving it up! Continued training will not only help her polish her obedience skills but will also strengthen the bond she shares with her future family. Bonnie is at an age where the right guidance, training, and activity level will help her grow into an incredible companion. She is looking for a family that will appreciate her intelligence, embrace her energy, invest in her continued development, and love her for a lifetime. If you're searching for an active, loyal, and loving companion who is ready to be your adventure partner, Bonnie may be the perfect addition to your family. She is ready to find the right home that will love her furever.
