Howie is a large, 8-year-old, neutered male Cattle Dog with a soft white and cream coat. He's fully house trained and up to date on vaccinations. Howie's personality shines in his current foster home in Ramona, CA, where his gentle demeanor and love for people have really stood out.

About Howie

Howie landed at the shelter when his previous owner tried to disguise a surrender as a found stray, but he hasn't let that rough start slow him down. Now thriving in a foster home, this large, 8-year-old Cattle Dog is a fixture of calm and charm. He bonds deeply with people, gets along wonderfully with children, and absolutely soaks up every bit of attention you have to give—expect plenty of naps (preferably touching you), eager greetings, and gentle kisses. House manners? Impeccable. Separation anxiety? None. If you work from home, he'll quietly snooze nearby and practically disappear except for the occasional cuddle request. Howie is leash trained, knows a laundry list of commands, and takes his role of 'best coworker' seriously. He is a total foodie who delights in puzzle toys and slow feeders. You can leave him roaming indoors without fear—he won’t get into trouble. Socially, he melts for every person he meets but isn’t comfortable around other dogs and needs to be the only pet. With osteoarthritis, long walks need managing, but he’ll happily swim or hang out while you run errands. He's a true loyalist looking for a dog-free home that wants a devoted, low-key, extra-friendly pal who wants nothing more than to spend the day by your side. Fun fact: Howie was born under the sign of Gemini—maybe that’s where his bright, social personality comes from. Every animal deserves a happy ending. This one starts with you.
