About Nikko

Nikko found himself at Coachella Valley Animal Shelter as a stray with no family coming for him, but it didn’t take long for him to win over his new friends. At about 9 years old and around 60 lbs., this large Pit Bull Terrier has that rare mix of unwavering sweetness and steadiness that stands out—he greets everyone, human or dog, like an old pal. Nikko confidently knows his basic commands and genuinely enjoys walks, though he’ll pull a bit to greet a new friend. He’s completely house-trained and comfortable in a crate for several hours, proving calm and patient whether you’re home or away. A recent foster stint brought out the best in him: playful without being wild, gentle with his toys (even if he prefers you to grab the ball from his mouth rather than drop it), and fantastic at waiting patiently for meals. He loves attention and will cuddle up if invited. Nikko enjoys play dates with other dogs, and, after brief sniffs, is chill and well-mannered. He’s also good with kids. Car rides are not his top pick, but he’ll jump in the backseat and stay safely buckled. The balance of energy and downtime makes him a great fit for an active family who enjoys hikes just as much as relaxing together. Born March 9, he’s a Pisces—no surprise for such a loving, adaptable companion. Ready to meet your new best friend? Apply now!
