About Trisha

While her owner was experiencing some hardships, Trisha was staying with a friend/caregiver to help relieve some of life’s pressures. While in her care, she stated that Trisha had nipped her son’s nose, who was playing with her without understanding the appropriate boundaries, and that he had likely gotten too close to Trisha’s face in doing so. Although the injury was minor and the demeanor of the dog was noted as playful at the time of the bite, out of concern for her child’s safety, she secured Trisha on her back porch. When our officers arrived on scene, they observed Trisha indeed to be playful and friendly and because she had not received rabies vaccines in the past and there was no place for them to safely keep her during her hold, the decision was made to bring Trisha to the shelter to complete her hold here. Attempts were then made by both our officers and our administrative staff to contact her owner, with hangups and no success in receiving return calls when messages were left, and she was never reclaimed. Now Trisha is searching for a new home and forever family to keep her safe, loved and up-to-date on vet care to ensure she has the best chance at an amazing life going forward. Since arriving to our shelter, Trisha has been easy to leash and to get in and out of her kennel. She has lots of puppy energy and could use work learning to walk on a leash. She can be jumpy and still is puppy-mouthy, always wanting to play! She met a similar sized spayed female and immediately wanted to play with her new friend. This very friendly puppy is all tail wags and wrestles, and is hoping to find the family with patience, love and consistency to teach her all the things about being a dog and a beloved family member. We always recommend meet and greets with other dogs and children prior to adoption to ensure a great fit for all! We do not have information on how Trisha does with cats, and no way to test for this. All of our adoptable dogs/puppies are spayed/neutered, microchipped and UTD on all age-appropriate vaccines/preventatives. Adopters will need to establish vet care upon adopting to maintain their new family member’s health and wellness. Come and meet this little cutie in person to see if she is meant to spend forever with you and your family! And remember the 3-3-3 Rule when adopting a shelter pet. 3 days for your new pet to decompress 3 weeks for your new family member to settle in 3 months for them to build trust Trisha’s adoption fee is $80! We are a first come, first served and in-person adoption center and are located at 430 Bristol Drive in Statesville. We are open for adoptions Monday-Friday 12-5pm and Saturdays 11am-2pm.
