About Vander

Meet Vander! Our officers received a call from his finder after Vander and her dog didn’t get along and a fight occurred. Like his namesake, a small piece of Vander’s ear was lost during the scuffle, but this sweet boy isn’t letting that one incident change how he views other dogs. When he was brought to an offsite medical visit for X-rays, Vander was happy, social, and friendly with all the dogs waiting in the lobby. His ear has been treated by our medical team and is healing well, and no other injuries were found. With no microchip and no ID tag, there was no way to contact a potential previous family, and no one ever came forward. Vander is now seeking a new, forever home. Here at the shelter, he has been easy to leash-walk and remove from his kennel—though he does pull enthusiastically, as if he has somewhere important to be. He also met a neutered male dog and did wonderfully, allowing the other dog to sniff him while his tail wagged nonstop. Because he arrived as a stray, we do not know how he is with cats or children, and we are not able to test for either. We always recommend meet-and-greets with other dogs and children before adoption. All adoptable dogs and puppies are spayed/neutered, microchipped, and up to date on age-appropriate vaccines and preventatives. Adopters will need to establish regular veterinary care after adoption. Remember the 3-3-3 Rule: ‱ 3 days to decompress ‱ 3 weeks to settle in ‱ 3 months to build trust Vander’s adoption fee is $80. We are a first-come, first-served, in-person adoption center located at: 430 Bristol Drive, Statesville Monday–Friday: 12–5pm Saturday: 11am–2pm Vander / A317250 2 years old Neutered male 62.30 pounds Please come meet Vander to see if he is the right match for your family.
