About Rex
Rex brings a big personality in a neat, 43-pound pittie/lab mix package, and he’s ready to fit seamlessly into the right home. He’s an outgoing dog with a social streak, always eager to greet anyone he meets—people and dogs alike, whether they’re tiny or towering. Rex genuinely enjoys being around other dogs and thrives in environments with playmates. He’s been a stellar foster sibling to over 25 dogs, including young puppies, helping them become well-socialized, confident companions. Don’t mistake his love for action for unruliness though—Rex is crate trained, house trained, and settled in his routines, right down to his 8:00pm bedtime and the expectation to be tucked in (yes, really). Rex’s energy is the best kind: eager for walks, bike rides, and car trips, but also able to flop down and snooze through a workday at the office. He isn’t destructive and responds well to positive training. He knows sit and paw, is picking up ‘wait’ and door manners, and adores learning. He does have his quirks—he’ll inspect countertops after walks, and his enthusiasm for food means he’s best matched with confident kids (fourth grade and up) who won’t mind some snack thievery. Loud noises like fireworks can make him nervous, but a cozy jacket or cuddle helps him handle that. Rex is reliable, docile for vet visits and grooming, and loves a good hug. He’s looking for an adopter who values routine, can offer companionship or a dog buddy, and has a sense of humor about the little stuff. Rex is fostered in Lemont, IL, and is ready to meet new friends. Your new best friend is just one click away.
