About Sweet Pea
Sweet Pea is a rear-paralyzed, medium-sized mixed-breed dog who came to rescue from Arkansas as a young puppy after her previous family could no longer care for her. Vets believe her spinal deformity stems from genetics, not trauma, and she has adapted to life on wheels—she cruises around happily in her cart. Because she doesn’t have control over her bladder or bowels, her caretakers use a regular routine to keep her comfortable and dry, including expressing her bladder and using a diaper when she’s out of her crate. Despite her special needs, Sweet Pea enjoys life to the fullest. She has a gentle, outgoing nature and gets along well with other dogs, cats, and children—she truly hasn’t met a stranger. Although her DNA is mostly American Pit Bull Terrier, her look is petite, weighing in around 35 lbs and not especially stocky. She’s energetic, young (born April 2022, making her an Aries—always ready for adventure), and loves playing with canine friends. Sweet Pea’s adoption fee is waived for the right home. She’ll go to her new family with her crate, wheelchair, and harness. What are you waiting for? Apply today!
