About Ellie

Sally was a foster favorite. Her name is now Ellie. She was adopted out more than a year ago, but apparently she growled at a toddler. Owners are returning her. So we say older kids only now. And without knowing the details it’s hard to say whose fault it was. But be safe, keep young children away from her. Always advocate for her space. She is undoubtedly the sweetest hound around, consistently showcasing her joy through her perpetual tail wag, even if she's not one for kisses. She excels on a leash, harmonizes with cats and kids, and boasts impressive house and crate training, reliably sitting for treats - what more could you possibly ask for in a wonderful companion? Adult mixed breed, mostly coonhound, about 60lbs - very timid but tail wags all the time! Age is estimated between 4-5. She has had a litter of puppies in the past. Her sad story: she came from such an awful situation of being abandoned outside at an evicted house in Laurinburg NC starved and emaciated to 38lbs. She came right up to a women and knew she was going to save her. She has gotten healthy now and gained about 20lbs. She loves to play with her foster siblings and other neighborhood dogs. Meal time is her favorite time of the day and she will let you know every morning and every night! She will sleep all night in a crate and take naps in there with the door open but will still resist walking in. She loves to sleep in the foster mom’s laundry basket at night or when you need some quiet time. She’ll startle at loud noises and doesn’t like when her foster mom would throw a ball with a chuck it stick with the foster brother dog because she thought the dog or her would get hit. Poor baby needs love and patience. You enjoy chewing on bones and naps. Currently Fostered with kids and cats and another female dog; Sally loves walking and playing outside and sniffing all around! She is housetrained and will go in her crate with a treat and a nudge. She likes her horn chew and is food motivated - very trainable. Enjoyed sleeping in her laundry hamper
