About Iris
Iris is nearly ready for her forever home after raising her newborn puppies with devoted care. Now that her pups are thriving, Iris is preparing for her own fresh start. She’s vaccinated, dewormed, and microchipped. If she’s with the rescue long enough after giving birth, she’ll be spayed before adoption; otherwise, her adopter will need to complete her spay when the vet confirms she’s ready. At around 6 years old and about 15 pounds, Iris is a petite Chiweenie (Chihuahua/Dachshund mix) who’s bounced back remarkably from a tough past. She’s making solid progress with housebreaking and knows how to be a polite housemate. Social and outgoing, she enjoys meeting people and gets along well with dogs her size. Large dogs sometimes make her wary at first, but she’ll warm up as long as they’re gentle. For cats, Iris’s curiosity gives way to caution—one swat from a foster cat, and she quickly respects boundaries. This bright, cuddly girl loves snoozing in bed at night and soaking up the sun during the day. Iris is easy to please, sleeps through the night, and eats well. She’ll thrive in a home with a sunny spot to relax. Be aware: Iris is an expert climber and can scale short fences with ease, and she absolutely loves to dig—especially if there’s a mole to chase. Her playful streak and cleverness are part of her charm. Iris is affectionate, gentle, and laid-back, but she brings a bit of sass and fun wherever she goes. She’s ready for a calm, loving home with a cozy place to bask and a fenced yard secure enough for her adventurous tendencies. Click apply to start the adoption process.
