Ginger is not yet fully house trained but is known to get along well with both dogs and cats. Like many Shih Tzus, she does best with consistent grooming and extra care for her skin and ears.

About Ginger

Meet Pumpkin and Ginger, a bonded pair of senior Shih Tzu sisters looking for their forever home together in Williamsburg, VA. Ginger (pewter, age 8) and Pumpkin (black, age 9) both weigh about 10 lbs and have been together their entire lives. They came into rescue after their previous owners could no longer care for them, and are now thriving thanks to consistent foster and veterinary attention. Both girls have chronic skin and ear issues typical for the breed. Their ongoing care includes weekly medicated baths (sometimes twice weekly for flare-ups), topical sprays and wipes, routine grooming, occasional ear cleanings, and a special, chicken-free diet. While Ginger is more cooperative with care routines, Pumpkin is a little sassier—but both are loving and sweet. They had recent dental work and are spayed, microchipped, and current on vaccines and preventatives. They love lap time, sunbathing, naps, gentle brushing, leisurely outdoor strolls, and cozy beds. Both are mostly housebroken, crate-trained, travel well, sleep soundly, and show zero interest in cats. They also get along with calm dogs and can be left alone at home for reasonable periods. A quiet, patient adopter with a small, fenced yard and minimal stairs will be the best fit. Their home should not have small children or energetic dogs given their size and needs. One adorable feature: both sisters have underbites and love to stick their tongues out. If you’re looking to welcome a low-key, loving duo who thrive on routine and gentle care, Pumpkin and Ginger are eager to meet you. Ready to fall in love? Hit apply and lets get started.
