About Kami

Meet KAMI, our little panda dog! She is 8 lbs and estimated to be about 3 months old. In person, she is much smaller than how she looks in the photos (photos always make them look much bigger)! Our best guess on full grown weight is low 20s. We don't know her breed for sure but our best guess is Shepherd/Lab plus many other breeds. She's a true Sato and is so darling! Kami's foster describes her as a calm and gentle puppy who is easy to handle and manage! She is very similar in personality to her foster mate, Sahara. She enjoys affection and being pet! Overall, she has an even-keeled and calm personality. She is a little shy at first when meeting new people but quickly warms up. She's not the type to be overly jumpy and would be good with children for that very reason. She has been child tested with young kids and was good! She also enjoys playing with other dogs, toys and plushies, sticks, and even paper cups! She loves running around the yard with toys and her doggie friends. She likes the simple things in life! She's currently being fostered with other puppies and adult dogs of varying sizes and is great with them all! She's doing very well with crate training. At night, she sleeps in a crate without an issue and when the foster is away from the home, she is also put in her crate with Sahara and is just fine. She is not yet house trained, but that is normal for a puppy of her age. When taken out outside, she will do her business there but may have a few accidents in the home too. She travels excellently and does not have car sickness. She remains calm during car rides. She's a good eater but doesn't overeat either (maybe she has less Lab than we think - hah!). Her foster is also teaching her how to walk on a leash but any new adopter should be expected to continue to work on this. She has not currently been cat tested but we have no doubt that she'd be absolutely fine given her age and temperament! Now, at this puppy stage, is the best time to do cat introductions! She also doesn't bark much which is a major plus! Her story is that she was left in a crate one night along with 2 other dogs (Sahara and Evita - both up for adoption with us) in a school parking lot. A rescuer that we work with who is a teacher at the school found them the following morning and rescued them. Kami has seen a veterinarian and has had a full work up including all age-appropriate vaccinations. ***Kami is currently being fostered in Puerto Rico and will only fly to her forever home once adopted! We can easily arrange a flight into JFK/EWR/BLD and more. We are open to adopters in the mid-Atlantic and Northeast. Please don't hesitate to ask us if we will ship to your location. We also organize all in-cabin flights to the mainland U.S. - it's an easy process!*** Please feel free to email us with any questions about her! We are a small boutique rescue and respond promptly. Your email will not get lost! The best fit for the dog is our priority. Please make sure you are ready to properly exercise and give a dog all it needs for fulfillment. Your ongoing time and day-to-day commitment are the most important things in caring for a dog. In addition, we cannot guarantee breed of any dog, exact age or expected adult size of a puppy. Please note that even house-trained dogs will need help transitioning to an adopter's home and schedule. Thank you for understanding.
