She is as small and as swift as the European scooter that is her namesake! When you see her pictures, it is hard to tell how tiny she really is. We heard about her from our volunteer friends at Chicago Animal Care and Control, where she had been waiting 3 weeks before we met her. We thought her pictures and videos were so cute, and agreed to meet her. We couldn't believe how small she was in real life - truly, pocket size! She was even thought to be a young puppy because of her small size, but she is actually closer to 11 months old, so pretty much full grown! We scooped her up and brought her to Heartland, where we have gotten to know her while she is staying with us. We can say with certainty that Vespa loves being with the other dogs, and hasn't met one that she doesn't like. She dances and spins around them, and does any cool move to get them to play. She plays well with dogs of all sizes, even those more than double her size. Since Vespa spent almost 2 weeks in a foster home with a family of four and their dog, we know even more about Vespa. We know that while she loves other dogs, she does not *need* a home with another dog, since she will form a strong bond with her people and is happy to be the center of attention! We also know that Vespa can be fearful meeting new people, particularly men, and will need an adopter who will advocate for her by introducing her to new people in slow, consistent, and structured ways. She is super smart, and bonds closely to her people and is a good communicator! With some guidance and confidence building, she can and will make friends with people that she may initially be nervous with. Here is what her fosters have to say about her! "Vespa is such a cute perfectly sized pup! You're sitting down? She'll place her sweet face right in your lap and tuck in nice and cozy. You want to go outside? She'll be right there with you ready to play with her ball or find a stick to chew on nearby. Butt scratches and pets? Yes please! But if you stop, she will give you some positive grunts to let you know that she needs more! Vespa is such a silly, sweet, cuddly pup who can self-entertain if needed, but if you get near a cozy surface, you won't be sitting alone. She loves hard and will show you that you are her safe space and person to call home." Vespa is such a special girl, so deserving of a home! She is going to make someone very happy! Vespa's adoption fee is $300. This animal is spayed, up to date on core vaccines, and Heartworm negative.
