About Squeak

Cat shelters often deal with sad stories about cats who are left behind for a variety of reasons. This unfortunate experience has happened to Squeak twice in the last four years. She first came to our Shelter about 4 years ago when her person could no longer take care of her. She was depressed, lonely, and very grumpy as evidenced by her wicked hiss and low growl. As volunteers gradually worked with her, she apparently selected a few to be friends with, but was still grumpy with the rest. We were worried she would never get adopted, despite her obvious good looks. Her Petfinder Bio gave a clear explanation of what to expect with Squeak, and we were delighted that a cat-loving woman who enjoyed rescuing the overlooked and spicy cats, came to visit and snatched her up. Now, 4 years later, her wonderful mom is seriously ill and can no longer care for her, so we welcomed her back. It has taken her a while, but she has settled back into a routine with a few volunteers. Squeak loves to be brushed, plays with wand toys, laser lights, and balls, and can be picked up by one of the volunteers. When with her mom, she would sleep on her bed and even do a few tricks for treats- she is a smart kitty. We are hoping once again that luck will be on our side for Squeak, who is 8 years old, and we find a loving and patient cat-mom, cat-dad, or cat-couple who won't mind taking some time to earn her trust. Squeak will enjoy being the only cat in a quiet home (although she does like cat TV), with no children. The love she gives back will be worth it! If you are interested in meeting Squeak, please go to our website and fill out an adoption application and we will be in touch to make an appointment for your visit. Filling out an application is not a commitment to adopt. You can call 207-646-1611 if you have any questions. https://www.safehavenhumanesociety.org/adoption-form/
