About Kacey
Kacey, born in late May 2023, came into Safe Haven as a very scared, under-socialized cat, unsure of her new surroundings and just days away from giving birth. After having her kittens in the shelter, Kacey began the slow process of coming out of her shell. Initially, she preferred watching from the shadows rather than interacting with people. Over time, and with patient, gentle care from volunteers, she's learned to trust—at least a little. Now, Kacey joins the other cats for play, especially if there are wand toys involved, and she enjoys her treats. She likes the company of her feline roommates, but she’s also content spending time solo. Kacey has made impressive progress: she no longer hides at every sound, and approaches new situations with cautious curiosity rather than fear. She’ll blink at someone softly if they speak kindly to her, showing she’s accepting gentle interaction. With people, though, Kacey still prefers her personal space and can get defensive if approached too quickly. She isn’t aggressive, but she’s clear about her boundaries. An experienced cat adopter would be the best fit for Kacey, especially someone who’s helped shy cats settle in before. She needs a calm, quiet adult home where she can feel safe, and she could go solo or join a low-key, friendly resident cat. Rescue work like this takes patience, but helping Kacey trust is worth it.
