Chihuahua peeps, who is looking for an adorable young pair?! These adorable little ones were terrified surrounded by the big barking dogs in the local pound, but are warming up quickly once they feel safe. Dorito (black and tan male) and Dumpling (tan female) are likely siblings and about a year old, 8 and 9lbs, and have the best big brown expressive chihuahua eyes that force you to do their bidding. Dorito is the more social, already climbing on our laps and Dumpling is more skittish and relies on her brother for confidence. We tried separating them before their spay/neuter surgeries but it went poorly and both were panicking and desperate to be back together so at this point it’s looking like they are pretty bonded and need to be placed together. That may change as we get to know them better if they make other dog friends, but we are hoping to find a chihuahua addict that knows that 2 chi are better than one 😜 They definitely were undersocialized and haven’t been on leashes or out in the world much, seem to be used to wee wee pads and we suspect they never left whatever home or apartment they lived in before they were abandoned. They bark at first with strangers but melt into you when you hold them. But need patience and calm positive socialization to new people and places to learn the world isn’t as scary as they think. (Actually… the world is much much scarier than their little chihuahua brains could possibly imagine, but let’s not crush all hope and let them know that 🤫 😳. They deserve a bubble of safety, we must put on a brave face for them!). They have been vet checked and are in good health, have been updated on shots and spayed and neutered (just in time to prevent the inbred chihuahua pups that were sure to come when she went into heat 😅), and are ready to start their new lives.
