Lulu
AvailableLulu is an 8-year-old spayed female Maltese/chihuahua mix in Oak Ridge, NJ. She has a long, scruffy gray and white coat and weighs about 8 pounds. Lulu is house trained, up to date on vaccinations, and thrives best in an adult-only home. She’s been through some medical care, including the removal of a low grade tumor, and will need monitoring going forward, but she’s otherwise healthy and looking for a devoted adopter.
About Lulu
Lulu is a scruffy little senior with a gentle heart and a story behind her eyes. At eight years old, she’s already faced some challenges—a mammary tumor that turned out to be cancerous, likely because she’d never been spayed, but her luck turned when she landed in foster care. Lulu has now been spayed, her chest x-rays are clear, and her vet says the tumor was low grade, hopefully caught early. While she’ll need to be monitored for any recurrence, she’s otherwise a healthy, spunky Maltese/Chihuahua mix ready for the right home. Lulu weighs in at just 8 pounds, but don’t underestimate her spirit. She can be suspicious of strangers and has a little bodyguard streak, especially once she bonds. She’ll need an adult home that understands her feisty, protective nature and is patient as she settles in. The bond that follows is well worth it—Lulu warms up quickly outside of stressful situations and becomes a deeply affectionate lapdog who dances for attention and wants to be picked up. She gets along with other small dogs and thrives in quieter, lower-key households where she’ll be loved for her quirks as much as her loyalty. Ready to meet your new best friend? Apply now!

Questions about Lulu
What type of living environment is this breed usually best suited for?
Lulu, a Maltese/Chihuahua mix, tends to thrive in quieter homes with adults who understand her protective, loyal temperament. A calm environment where she can build trust is ideal.
How much outdoor space does this breed typically need?
Lulu is content with short walks or a secure yard, but she doesn’t need a lot of outdoor space. As a small dog, she does well in apartments or houses alike, as long as she gets daily strolls and stimulation.
