About Pippy The Pirate;
Make their next chapter their best one yet. Pippy the pirate is one of the many senior dogs looking for a brighter future. Recently rescued from a stressful shelter situation where she was surrounded by large, barking dogs, Pippy came into care severely overweight and suffering from untreated chronic dry eye and glaucoma in one eye. Thanks to swift veterinary attention, her painful eye was removed, and she's healing well. Pippy, a chihuahua/chiweenie mix with a short tan coat, is warming up daily—her quirky personality shines once she feels safe in her cozy bed. Like many chihuahuas, she can be snarky with strangers but reveals a lovable side to those who understand her breed's charm. Her dental issues left her with just her bottom teeth, so her 'pirate' gumming style is more adorable than intimidating. Pippy prefers the company of mellow, small dogs and connects especially with fellow chihuahuas. Now at least 10 years old and in improving health, she has already started shedding some pounds on her new diet, showing resilience despite her senior status. This animal is currently in foster care in Northern NJ. The rescue operates through meet-and-greet appointments and manages all communications by email due to limited volunteer capacity. All dogs, including Pippy, are in foster homes, and there is no central shelter location. The organization focuses on saving local dogs from shelters and accepts some surrenders and rescues in need.
