This wonderful boy has been showing us his true colors lately, and we are so excited to introduce him to the world. Schwarber is a total sweetheart who has really come out of his shell. He is incredibly social and loves spending time with his human friends. In fact, he's a bit of a professional cuddler-he's been known to rest his head right in your lap, leaning in for some well-deserved neck rubs! With his soft eyes and fluid, relaxed body language, it's clear that he is a dog who just wants to bond with his people. He is a gentleman on a leash, walking nicely by your side, and he is very polite when taking treats. He seems to be well-versed in house manners and is very eager to please. Whether he is sniffing around the yard or hanging out calmly, Schwarber is a joy to be around. He's even a good sport about dressing up-he's already proven he looks great in a jersey! Took treat gently when offered, demonstrating calm and receptive demeanor.Leash Skills:Easy to leash. Pulled moderately through the kennels. Once outside, eliminated multiple times (urinated and defecated).Sociability:Approached readily when handler got down to his level. Rested head in handler's lap and leaned in closer for neck rubs. Allowed full body touching with soft eyes maintained throughout interaction. Displayed loose body posture with tail low and moving fluidly, indicating relaxed and trusting demeanor with me.Play:Play was not attempted during this assessment.Dog Interaction:No dogs were encountered during the walk, so dog-to-dog interaction could not be assessed. However, evidence suggests history of dog fight (s) based on body condition and intake circumstances.Return to Kennel:easy .Color Level:experience gold Recommendations and considerations:- Update status to available from rescue only due to improvements seen in sociability- Exercise caution around other dogs, Recommend professional supervision if around other dogs 04/03/2026: Making available due to multiple notes with different people he is showing more social behavior with people and does not appear to be shut down now 03/29/2026: Per ACA:Easy to leash, came right to the front. Pulled Mildly No, I did not handle the dog. Walked right into kennel and unleashed without issue 03/29/2026: Steer test: 2-3/5 with water 2-3/5 with canHigh flagging tail with ears to the side at the fence. Stiff greetings with tense body. 03/26/2026: removed foster eligible attribute and made rescue only while pathway is determined 03/25/2026: Per volunteer 03/24/2026: approaching Schwarbers kennel he was neutral, with soft eyes, tail neutral, and ears neutral. He allowed leashing with no issues. He walks well on leash and stays close to his handler. Schwarber seems to be housebroken, or trying to stay housebroken as he relieved himself as soon as we made it outside. In the yard he eas curious and spent some time sniffing around, but then would come back to me and another volunteer. He allowed all handling and even let us put him in a phillies jersey!
