About Louie
Start your journey together! Apply now. Meet Louie, a 13 to 15-year-old, 10-pound Chihuahua who is truly the definition of a calm, independent companion. Louie loves to quietly share space with his people, preferring to be near you rather than the center of attention. He is a low-maintenance buddy—mostly housebroken and thrives on routine. Although he's not leash trained, Louie is happiest in a home with a small, secure yard where he can easily go out for potty breaks. Like many seniors, he may need a quick trip outside at night if crated, but otherwise he settles and sleeps well. Louie coexists peacefully with other dogs that respect his space, always seeking a tranquil, drama-free atmosphere. He brings the same peaceful approach to people—he’s not a cuddler, but values being nearby and part of your everyday moments. Louie rides politely in the car, although car trips can make him a little nervous. With a healthy appetite and a special fondness for jerky treats, he delivers a steady, easygoing presence to any home. Ideally, Louie’s forever home will be quiet and consist of adults who appreciate an independent companion—think of him as a devoted, tiny roommate. Prior to coming to Lil Rascals, Louie’s previous owners moved to a long-term care facility. He has diminished vision due to cataracts and only hears loud noises, but still enjoys life comfortably. Louie seems to have recently had a dental, but has an oronasal fistula that does not cause him any discomfort—he simply needs to eat a soft diet and will not require surgery. What Louie seeks most is a comfortable, peaceful home where he can enjoy his golden years. They are ready to love you; are you ready to apply?

Questions about Louie
What type of living environment is this breed usually best suited for?
Chihuahuas typically thrive in indoor, home-based environments where they are protected from extreme temperatures and feel safe. They are well-suited for apartments or houses with small yards, as they do not require large spaces.
How much outdoor space does this breed typically need?
Chihuahuas do not require a lot of outdoor space and are content with short walks and potty breaks in a secure yard. Daily exercise and time outside are still important, but a small area is usually sufficient.
Is this breed typically suitable for homes with children?
Chihuahuas can be suitable for homes with older, respectful children who understand how to interact gently. Young or boisterous children may overwhelm this small breed, so supervision is recommended.
