GYPSY is a big, Beautiful Calico. At almost 13lbs, she is the picture of health. However, she suffers from FIC (Feline Idiopathic Cystitis - inflammation of the bladder) caused by stress. GYPSY would have episodes of peeing outside her litter box. Young cats are more apt to have this condition, and once UTI's are ruled out, the treatment is to remove the stress. GYPSY came from an active family with young children. So though sad that she has lost her home, it was obvious that she needed to find a calmer home. We do not know how she is with other cats, though if they were totally laid back and indifferent to her, she'd probably do ok. She is obviously stressed by chaos, so Dogs and Children are probably not in her wheelhouse. For her health, and her guardians' peace of mind, it is best that she is in a quiet home as the only pet! When she first came to the shelter, GYPSY was upset and hid. But she has calmed down and will now come up for pets and loving. She loves head scratching and will purr up a storm to get you to continue. GYPSY is a sweet kitty who will need a patient, understanding person. GYPSY is not being a bad cat when she has "accidents"! She is simply reacting to stressful/fearful situation. In a quiet home, her stress level should calm down and the issue of emptying her bladder in inappropriate places will stop, only happening if something unexpected happens to stress her out. GYPSY just needs someone who is calm, understands her stress issue, and can give her the quiet, loving environment she needs to be the loving kitty she really is.
