Name: Oscar Best Guess for Breed: Dachshund mix Best Guess for Age: 4 years as of March 2026 SEX: Male Approximate Weight: 30 lbs Gets Along With: Other dogs! We haven't seen him with cats or kids but we are happy to discuss integration techniques with any potential adopters! Currently Living at: DC area foster home Check out this video of Oscar: https://youtube.com/shorts/bz7-x5Hcspc. Oscar is Looking For: His forever home! This stubby legged cutie landed in the shelter through no fault of his own. Now he's looking for his own humans to trot alongside on those sniffy walks and adventures! Making new pup pals along and having plenty of opportunity to run and play is on his wish list along with quality kibble and a cushy dog bed. But above all he wants to know where he belongs, to be under his own roof, to be safe and loved. In exchange, he promises adoring gazes and loyal companionship for all his days. What do you say? Can you see him by your side? What My Foster Says About Me: Oscar is a loving dog who wants to be integrated into his household, and he will be joyful to spend time with for the resident people and dogs alike. First, you can endlessly obsess over what breed mix he might be. Then, you can pet his soft face and look into his big eyes. If you’re working from home, he will lie on the floor next to you just to be nearby (he’s doing exactly that as I write this!). We saw at his first adoption event that he immediately trusts all humans and dogs. He greets people with wiggles and kisses. He has a playful and rambunctious side to his great personality, which we’ve tempered by taking Oscar on long walks and yard play. Oscar is great on a leash, exploring without pulling a lot. Oscar does fine in a crate and gated areas, only briefly complaining if he can’t see his people. He has slept quietly at night in a crate in our bedroom. As a bonus, he loves to snuggle. Oscar’s motivated by love, acceptance, and food, so we suspect he will quickly learn whatever he needs to know. Lucky Dog cannot guarantee any dog is housebroken. All of our dogs are working on their crate training. TO ADOPT: The adoption fee for this dog is $460, which includes the cost of routine vetting, including vaccinations and spay/neuter. If you are interested in adopting, please complete the Adoption Questionnaire online at bit.ly/adoptaluckydog .
