About Nina
Nina is our 12th foster dog and one of the easiest ones we've had. Although she arrived quite scared and reserved, she has courageously conquered new frontiers. In just her first week, she completely transformed into a curious, happy, wiggly dog. She is so excited to go on walks. When she sees her leash and winter coat, she does a whole-body wag. Then, she sits quietly to be leashed and waits until you invite her out. She walks right by your side or just in front when exploring and follows your direction. She absolutely loves meeting other dogs though she hasn't quite learned to play with them yet. She's also a good running mate and jogs right next to you. Inside the house, she's a low-medium energy dog who settles quickly, is house trained and crate-trained and sleeps through the night (on a dog bed next to the human bed). A new development is that she has jumped up on the bed a few times wanting desperately to be with us. This is a huge breakthrough for a dog that was initially so shy! We felt that she needed some boundaries-rules-limitations so we said "off" and she jumps right down. Gotta give her credit for trying! We've gone to a couple adoption events and she does great with meeting new people and she did great with the other dogs. She's an initially shy but super sweet mama dog with a unique "half moon ear" and soulful brown coat like a latte. She's very gentle, responsive, observant and affectionate once she settles in and feels at home. When she leans into you, it feels like a gift. She has beautiful steady eyes like she's always listening and projects calm wisdom. Now she's learning what it means to be cared for herself. She may not be flashy, but she is deeply beautiful, steady and patient. She's a gentle, trusting, loving companion waiting for someone who sees the beauty in a soft dog with a resilient spirit.
