About Garcia
Meet sweet boy Garcia. This cutie is a perfect example of a resilient dog. Picked up by an officer, Garcia had wounds on his face that appeared to be painful and made him headshy. Despite likely being in pain, he is a happy boy. He takes treats gently, sits nicely for them and has cute 'tippy taps' when he's happy. He's very food motivated and quickly becoming a volunteer favorite. Garcia is looking for a rescue partner to help with his medical needs. It took a few attempts as he bobbed a bit, but as we exited the shelter, he had a steady cadence and high tail. Once outside, Garcia pooped quickly and peed. While on our walk, he did not pull at all. He trotted under control and on my right side. Garcia sat calmly for treats and took them nicely. He had a relaxed body with butt scratches and head pets. He showed no reactions to dogs or people around us but just kept walking. While in the run, Garcia followed me closely after I showed my treat bag. He was well-behaved- no jumpy or mouthy behavior- right near me looking intently (for treats, I presume). Easy to walk back to his kennel and remove the leash around his neck even with his wounds. VGB! Staff Per volunteer 03/24/2026: this little guy was such a sweetheart! He was a little leash dodgy which is understandable as his face is a bit swollen right now. I tried to make my leash loop as big as possible so I wasn't touching his face. He walked out nicely and once we got outside went to the bathroom right away. He seems to be housebroken or trying to stay housebroken. He allowed all handling and had the cutest little taps when you scratched his butt. He knows sit but can be a bit snatchy with treats so open palm is best! No issues returning him to kennel. He is incredibly sweet! 03/24/26 Super sweet boy! Needs a slow approach as he is timid and his face is very painful from bite wounds. Allowed all handling. Very treat motivated and will sit nicely when you hold a treat out. Did great at check in with minimal restraint needed Staff 03/23/2026 BAR, very happy boy, food motivated, allows pets, handled all vaccines well with less is more, friendly ACCT Philly is located at 111 West Hunting Park Ave in Philadelphia.
