About Willy
Willy was a stray seen wandering around the neighborhood of the Good Samaritan that found him. Sleeping on porches for many days he was finally taken in by the Good Samaritan and sadly not claimed by anyone in the neighborhood. A couple of weeks later Willie was turned over to rescue and we have had him since. Willy can be a little cautious of strangers in the beginning but then starts to warm up very nicely. Is friendly once he knows you and does love to hang out with his canine companions. He does not mind cats one bit but sudden movements scare him and lots of activities make him withdraw, so think a home with small children would be too much for him. He can be a little bit hand shy and may have a little bit past trauma that he needs to overcome. He does well in a crate but will become vocal when he has been in one for too long. He loves to go for walks and does well on a leash. His favorite thing to do is to just hang out and be part of the family. We think someone who works long hours would not be good for him because when he does become vocal it can be very irritating. He doesn't really bark he's more of a screamer. He loves cuddles and being part of the family. Willy definitely deserves the chance to be in a loving home that will spend lots of time focusing on his needs and desires. Another friendly dog in the home would be a plus as he seems to take their cues from them quite readily. Dog friendly cats in the home are also a plus. Willy is neutered, up to date on all his vaccines, and microchipped. He does have a severe heart murmur and that will need to be considered if he is to ever have any anesthesia procedures done in the future. This is a great senior boy that would be wonderful for a semi-retired or retired family who still likes to go for car rides long walks on the beach and lots of adventures. He's also great for a weekend night of movies and popcorn. If you are looking for a companion that will be devoted to you in the future then really is your dog. His $500 adoption fee helps us ensure that we can continue to help Strays like Willie get off the streets and find the homes of their dreams.
