Hi, I'm Braxton - a 37-pound Border Collie mix with a sensitive heart and a thoughtful soul. Life in the shelter has me feeling pretty anxious and on edge, so I do best when people move slowly with me and let me come to them at my own pace. The secret to meeting me is simple: get down on my level, speak gently, and give me time to figure things out. I may seem unsure at first, and I can be a bit of an awkward guy who doesn't quite know what to do with attention, but once I realize I'm safe, something special happens. I absolutely melt for praise and affection - honestly, treats and toys don't impress me much when compared to kind words and loving pets. Love is what I understand best, and once I feel comfortable, I start leaning in closer and closer because being loved on is my favorite thing in the world. Because I can get overwhelmed, I'm looking for a home without small children where my boundaries will be respected. What I really need is a patient, understanding person who will help build my confidence and continue my socialization while keeping my mind busy and engaged. I'm a smart boy who needs things to do, and if I get bored or don't have an outlet, I might find my own "projects" around the house. The good news?
