Hi... I'm Rocky, a 29-pound American Blue Heeler mix who's still figuring out this big, busy world. I'm a very scared boy right now, and I haven't quite shown all of who I am yet. I just need some extra time to decompress and get comfortable before my true personality can shine through. I tend to pace inside and outside because I don't really know what I'm supposed to do, and new environments can feel overwhelming. Smaller, cozy spaces help me feel a little safer while I take everything in. Going slow with me makes all the difference. I'm very sweet at heart, even if I'm not quite sure yet how to give or receive affection. Being touched can make me nervous -I'm just learning that it's okay. Soft encouragement, positive clapping, and even a little baby talk actually help boost my confidence and make me feel supported. What I really need is someone patient and kind who will reassure me, cheer me on, and let me move at my own pace. With time, attention, and lots of gentle understanding, I know I'll blossom into the loyal companion I'm meant to be. My adoption fee of $300+tax covers the cost of my care and stay here at the humane society. All Pennington County residents must also pay an additional $8 licensing fee at time of adoption.
