Hi, I'm Bluey, an American Blue Heeler mix, and I'm a medium-sized boy with a gentle heart and a thoughtful soul. The shelter setting makes me feel pretty anxious, especially around people I don't know yet, so I can come off as a little distant at first. I am much more comfortable and happiest when I can be outside enjoying fresh air and space. I'm actually a very well-mannered and easygoing guy, and while I sometimes seem like I have selective hearing, it's really just me trying to process everything around me. If you toss a toy my way, I might surprise you with a quick burst of playful energy-sometimes I'll even jump up to join in-but I tend to lose interest quickly and settle back down. Underneath it all, I'm a very sweet and loving boy. Because of my breed and my sensitive nature, I'm looking for a calm, patient home that understands boundaries, behavior, and the needs of a smart, active dog like me. I wouldn't be a good match for a home with small children, as I do best when my space and signals are respected. I enjoy being physically active, but I also need mental enrichment to stay happy and balanced, like puzzle toys, Kongs, and activities that keep my brain busy when we're not on the move. With consistency, understanding, and time, I know I can truly blossom. I have so much potential and so much love to give-I just need someone willing to help me come out of my shell and show me that the world can be a safe and wonderful place.
