Scrappy is ready for his forever home, and it’s hard not to wonder how he’s still waiting. At around a year old, Scrappy is already showing just how special he is. He is velvety soft, gentle at heart, and full of quiet “good boy” energy. He has a calm, thoughtful way about him and is the kind of dog who makes you feel instantly at ease. Scrappy is deeply affectionate with his people and forms strong bonds. He doesn’t love goodbyes and truly thrives on being part of everyday life with his humans. Scrappy has wonderful manners in the home. He has no food aggression or resource guarding and sits patiently waiting for his meals. He takes treats gently, knows how to sit, and is learning not to jump. He enjoys Kong toys and chew time and would benefit from a slow feeder since he tends to eat quickly. He walks nicely on leash, is potty trained with a routine, and is crate trained, going into his crate when asked and waiting politely. He has had no accidents while crated and does not try to bolt out doors or escape the yard. Socially, Scrappy is thoughtful and easygoing. He is curious but calm around cats and may do well with dog-savvy kitties. He would thrive in a home with another dog or be perfectly happy as the center of attention in a single-dog home. Scrappy is gentle, loyal, and eager to please. He is the kind of companion who simply wants to be close to his people and part of their world.
