About Ninja

Ninja is a one-year-old, 76 lb Great Pyrenees/Border Collie mix who arrived in Washington from an overcrowded California shelter. The first thing you’ll notice is his magnificent coat and his huge presence—made even more charming by his habit of letting his tongue hang out. Ninja is playful and bouncy, with all the energy you'd expect from a large adolescent dog. He responds well to treats and loves engaging with people, but he needs further training and consistency, as he’s a bit jumpy and still mouths when excited. He’ll thrive most with someone who has large-breed experience and can provide both structure and plenty of room to roam in a secure yard, preferably in a quieter or rural area. Ninja’s idea of a good day is a long hike followed by lounging with his people. Though sweet and affectionate, he will need continued obedience training. He can be selective around other dogs—doing best as a solo dog or with a female of similar size—and isn’t suited for a home with cats. If you’re looking for a big-hearted, goofy adventure buddy who needs a committed, confident handler, Ninja could be a perfect fit. He’s microchipped, neutered, and up to date on vaccinations, just waiting for his match. What are you waiting for? Apply today!

Questions about Ninja

  • What type of living environment is this breed usually best suited for?

Ninja, being a Great Pyrenees/Border Collie mix, is best suited for a home with plenty of space, ideally with a large, securely fenced yard and a quieter or rural setting. These breeds excel in environments where they can move freely and aren't confined to small spaces.

  • How much outdoor space does this breed typically need?

A dog like Ninja needs access to substantial outdoor space, ideally a large fenced yard. Both Great Pyrenees and Border Collies enjoy having room to roam and explore, and Ninja in particular thrives when he has room to stretch his legs and burn energy.

  • Is this breed typically suitable for homes with children?

While Ninja is affectionate, his size and high energy may be overwhelming for small children. Great Pyrenees and Border Collie mixes can do well with older kids who are comfortable and experienced around big, strong dogs.
