About Pepper

MEET PEPPER!! Pepper’s story hits hard: she started life on the street, underfed, covered in fleas and ticks, limping with pain. A BB pellet shattered her hip—urgent care revealed the femoral head was in pieces. This little girl toughed out chronic agony, her hip audibly crunching while she wandered in search of help. After Flea’s FHO surgery, things finally turned for her. At only 2 years old and about 9 lbs, Pepper’s energy and love haven’t faded one bit. She bounces back, keeping up with any small, playful dogs she meets. She’s sweet-natured, welcomes strangers with full trust, and shines when given a buddy to romp with. Her needs are non-negotiable: no apartments, no chain link fences she can climb, no large dogs or small kids—just a home with a playful dog companion and a secure, traditional yard. Applicants must be in the Dallas Metroplex or nearby. Every adoption starts with a one-week home trial to make sure it’s a fit. Ready to meet your new best friend? Apply now!

Questions about Pepper

  • What type of living environment is this breed usually best suited for?

Pepper, as a Chihuahua/Chiweenie mix, thrives in a stable home with a secure yard and another playful dog for company. Her breed mix is best suited for homes that are attentive and can provide daily stimulation and companionship.

  • How much outdoor space does this breed typically need?

Pepper benefits from a secure, fenced yard but doesn't require a massive amount of space. A small yard where she can explore, play, and stretch her legs will keep her happy and healthy.

  • Is this breed typically suitable for homes with children?

Pepper’s mix does well with older, gentle children, but she’s not suitable for homes with younger kids given her size and past experiences. For her, a family with children over 12 is best.
